Start with equipment identification

A replacement enquiry should identify the plant, line, continuous press and equipment position closely enough that different installed parts cannot be confused.

  • Plant / production line reference
  • Press reference or internal equipment tag
  • Installed position or subsystem
  • Existing part number, drawing number or maintenance reference

Separate evidence from assumptions

Use approved drawings, maintenance records, inspection notes, nameplates and physical measurements as evidence. Mark missing values explicitly rather than filling them with catalogue assumptions.

  • Existing drawings and revision level
  • Measured dimensions and measurement date
  • Material / hardness / surface requirements actually documented
  • Photos showing interfaces, wear and orientation

Control dimensions and interfaces

The key question is not whether a supplier recognizes the component name. It is whether the replacement can be defined against the dimensions and interfaces that matter to the installed system.

  • Mating geometry and fit
  • Ports, connectors, guides or attachment points
  • Surface contact or running interfaces
  • Envelope / clearance limits around the installed assembly

Define materials, surfaces and function

Where the existing technical basis controls material, heat treatment, hardness, surface, friction or lubrication function, those requirements should be passed into the RFQ as controlled inputs.

Make responsibility boundaries visible

Packaging, export preparation, field installation, drum or surface preparation, commissioning and acceptance checks should be separated clearly. A replacement component and a full installed-service scope are not the same commercial offer.
